Bonefin: A Pirate Borg Scenario

Made for Shark Week 2026, Bonefin is a quick, drop-in scenario that can be inserted into any adventure that needs an extra dose of the eerie and bizarre.  It takes place by a dead, cold pool in any pitch-black place. Spoilers below:

What is This?

A sea grue lives here.  The reverent attendant to a shark that found its way to the pool in ages past.

Both creatures are bound to The Deep. The grue, Blaggard, worships that unfathomable force, even though it twists and torments him. The shark, whom Blaggard calls Bonefin, has been equally twisted.

Bonefin is the chosen guardian of a milky substance called Whitesap, which seeps from the earth and into the pool. It is both vile and delectable. 

Blaggard longs to be freed, even as he continues to relish in his Whitesap addiction. 

His only hope of release is someone slaying Bonefin and taking the sap, or falling into addictive reverence themselves...
